Faction is a small team building a product where correctness, security, and clarity matter more than speed. We hire when we can do it well, not when we can fill seats.

## How we work

- Small team, real ownership. If you join, you own the surface you ship. We do not assign "task takers."
- Async-first, written-first. Decisions live in pull requests and design docs, not meetings.
- Remote-friendly. Anywhere we can pay you legally and overlap a few hours a week.
- Honest with users. If a feature would break the E2EE guarantee, we don't ship it. If a fact about the product changes, we update the page. The transparency and whitepaper pages are not marketing copy — they're what we hold ourselves to.

We read everything; we cannot promise a fast reply when there's no open requisition, but interesting candidates get filed for when there is.

## What we look for

- Cryptography fluency. Not "I read a blog post" — comfort with the primitives that show up in the whitepaper.
- Production engineering instincts. Cassandra LWTs, NATS subjects, idempotency, rate limits, observability — the difference between code that works and code that runs.
- Care for the user. Privacy-first software for normal people is a usability problem. Cryptographic correctness without an interface anyone can use is just a paper.
- Boring trust. We grant access carefully, audit it transparently, and prefer no surprises. The opposite of "move fast and break things."
