# Cookie policy

Short version: **faction.chat does not set tracking, analytics, or advertising cookies.** We do not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Segment, Amplitude, Hotjar, FullStory, Meta Pixel, or any other third-party tag manager or session-replay product.

## What this site stores in your browser

- One localStorage entry, key faction:theme. Stores your dark / light theme preference so it persists across page loads. First-party, no expiration, never transmitted anywhere.

That's the entire list for the marketing site. No cookies. No web beacons. No fingerprinting scripts. Verify with your browser's developer tools — application tab, storage section.

## What the Faction product stores

Once you sign in to the Faction application (when public builds ship), the client stores encrypted local data: SQLCipher on desktop, AES-256-GCM over IndexedDB in the browser. See the [transparency page](/transparency) for the full enumeration. None of that is a cookie.

## If a future feature ever adds a cookie

Any cookie added in the future will be listed on this page with name, purpose, expiration, and whether it is first-party or third-party — before the feature ships, not after. Where consent is required by law, a consent banner gates it.

## Your rights

Nothing to delete from the cookie jar because the cookie jar is empty. For data we do store server-side (account, ciphertext, metadata), see the [privacy policy](/privacy) for access, correction, and deletion rights.
